UPES, has a distinctive mission and vision, that sets us apart from other universities. The University was established 5 years ago, when there was no domain specific institution in the area of Oil and Gas and larger Energy Sector. Around the time of our inception, the Indian energy sector was opening up and was getting integrated to Global Energy Environment. Therefore, this new kind of academic institution is eminently poised to serve the needs of energy sector both nationally and internationally.

This percept has served us well, and today our students graduating out, of our three colleges viz. Engineering, Management and Law, have started working with international and global community. Today our alumni numbering more than 1,500 are helping this industry to become more competitive in the changing times of acute need of energy security.

We believe that UPES is superbly poised in providing the talented manpower in the sector, along with researching the needs of Clean Development Mechanism, Renewable Energy, and Sustainable Development. With UPES expertise in interdisciplinary problem solving, the University has a unique opportunity and a deep obligation to make a critical difference by creating the innovations, fueling the economy, and creating the talent.
